Johnson City Writes
Meets the 1st Tuesday of each month
Where: Johnson City Library
Time: 9:30 am
This is the group for you!
By: Sally Clark
For the journalist or memoir writer, this group provides a willing ear to hear your stories, poems, or memoirs. Reading your work out loud in a safe atmosphere can be rewarding and helpful in your efforts to improve your skills.
For the writer who wants to be published, this group provides opportunities for critique and inspiration for new pieces. Submission opportunities are shared at the meetings.
For the seasonal writer, this group offers an opportunity to share your skills and experience, as well as the chance to bounce new ideas off other writers; to be encouraged as well as encouraging.
The goals of this group are to fellowship, inspire, encourage and to learn from one another. This group is open to readers as well as writers. You don’t need to write. Come if you love to read and let us know what you like and don’t like. All genres are welcome - fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children’s, mystery, romance, western, etc...
Quotes:
“Bambi does a great job coming up with a writing exercise every month. I find myself writing about things I would otherwise never come up with.”
“Coming to the meetings every month gives me a deadline to get something written. I have lots of ideas, but without a deadline, I would never get them done”
“I appreciate that I don't have to share anything, if I don't want to. The group needs my ears as a reader as well as my words as a writer.”
